Small Stuff

The data on the Clipboard is damaged, so Microsoft Office Access can't paste it.
Microsoft released a security update on december 9th that broke copy and paste between Excel and Access.
Since this wasted a better part of an hour of my (and CSU's) Time, I figured i'd post here and be angry for a bit.
Solution (actually a terribly painful workaround) here..
Thanks for keeping us all safe by not allowing us to work microsoft!
In other news... god I love my mac.

Can you have a 'private property' shopping center?
http://www.coloradoan.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080917/UPDATES01/...
The new Front Range Village shopping center in Collins has decided not to allow dogs. Anywhere. Sidewalks, streets, whatever.
Can they do that? If I take private property, throw a bunch of streets, sidewalks, parking lots, and stores all over it and invite the public in, can I then set arbitrary rules for the public looking spaces? (streets and sidewalks, etc.)
Can I demand that everyone switch to driving on the left side of the street? Can I put out a sign that says 'No Blacks, Gays, or Fatties'?

Obama: ‘Don’t mock the Constitution’

Damn straight.. When she said that in her convention speech I started yelling at the tv. The crowd cheering about it made me truly scared of the future of America.
I mean.. truly.. what America are they trying to keep safe?

Bin Laden's a douche.
"If there is no check on the freedom of your words, then let your hearts be open to the freedom of our actions"
--Osama Bin Laden (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7306002.stm)
Nope, no check on the freedom of our words. That's called a free society. If you have a problem with free societies, then bring it on. We can take it.
That was specifically directed toward the EU... they survived the blitz.. What the hell could you possibly bring that they can't stand?
What a self important pissant... Keep calm and carry on people.

everybody sucks.
google: you suck for not recognizing a '.' in the search term ".Net"
microsoft: you suck for making a product with a completely common and unsearchable name.

Cory Doctorow is a terrible writer.
I keep trying to read his drivel, but it's just so godawful bad that I can't take it. It reads like high school fiction. I'm not saying I could do better (but given the amount of practice he's had, I don't see how I could possibly do worse), but that, compared to actual writers who don't make their money blogging and talking about things they're not qualified to be regarded as experts on, he's awful.

Peter Sagal From Wait Wait don't tell me about running

Probably something only I am interested in, but there are some pretty good chunks in this interview that explain running, and why your average joe would want to do it.

The JPL's Athlete bot prototype

This is a freaking rad design. I'm really impressed by the interchangeable tools and power taps on each leg. Such great ideas!

Woot! Darpa Urban challenge!
This year it's about fully autonomous cars navigating an urban environment. (with traffic!)
I assembled all the videos from each school after the break
