Can't easily unsubscribe? Corrupt!

Background: My asshole of a friend Jason Gentry once thought it would be funny to sign me up for whatever crap he could find on the internet. As a result, I've been receiving American Trucker magazine, and mailings from the national association of female executives for the past 4 years. These mailings have followed me through 4 address changes.

I am not a trucker, nor am I a female executive. Today, my mailbox was filled with both an AT catalog, and a massive (about a big phone book * 2) Mouser Electronics catalog. I ordered a single $5 part from mouser a few months ago, and now my mailbox is stuffed with a half a tree EVERY month. (which seems odd for a company that has a page about their commitment to the environment posted prominently on their site.)

Hello Pig! My first Arduino project.

It's an ambient orb style pulsating pig!

that's it... really. but i learned to read digital and analog pins, and how to write to the analog out pins, and before that the digital ones. Woot!

Bruce Schneier knows Alice and Bob's shared secret.

Bruce Schneier is the man. He's a really good, solid voice on current security. I'm 3/4 through his most recent book and there is not a moment reading it when i don't say, holy shit! that is so stupidly logical!

He's rather even handed when it comes to security decisions, he calls the current administration on what they've done right and what they've done wrong. (although there are cases when the wrong greatly outnumbers the right)

At any rate, here's a good example from his blog (of which i have become a daily reader)

My high hopes dashed for eInk

Engadget has many links to reviews of Sony's new eReader tech.

I had really high hopes for eInk in the realm of replacing my aging hp jornada pda as a digital book reading aparatus. A 1 second delay on page turns (among other notable crappiness) has me convinced I'd probably be better off with a more traditional techtoy.

Who can beat that freaking battery life though? We just need magical battery tech to come along. That's the thing holding techtoys back.

Screwin With Drupal, Building a Puter

So... here's a blog entry I guess. (I'm not sure I'm enough of a sharing type for such things..) I really just want to see what drupal will do with it.

So far, I've been really freaking impressed. Ideally, I'd like this site to be a place where multiple people can have multiple blogs and all of it can be organized in a way that users could see any or all of it depending on preference. Maybe I'll just back off and batty can post his RNC spam. (which is an ok read with embedded commentary. ; )

Anyway, today I built a computer. We've got a work thing and I'm trying to put together a sort of kiosk system. Point is, motherboards have changed. I spent a good hour or so before I realized they'd added another power connector that I hadn't heard of since the last time I built a box. I was happy that I didn't have a DOA motherboard though.
